  • You want to disrupt the industry with us and participate in product development more holistically. As a MEMS Design Engineer, you will participate in KYOCERA Technologies’ technology development to change the world with our groundbreaking MEMS resonator technology which will revolutionize the timing industry.
  • You are someone who is self-motivated and innovative team player with industry experience of product design and in-depth knowledge of FEM simulation with a particular expertise in non-linear phenomena. You have strong product-development-oriented mindset, problem solving capability and fluent English.
  • You are looking for a job where daily tasks include design, simulation and modelling of resonators, photomask layout design, subcontractor management, optical characterization of resonators in cleanroom and analysis of characterization data.

Your responsibilities in this position include…

  • Lead R&D projects and device design activities associated to product platform
  • Hands-on simulation and device design
  • Development of new features for our in-house simulation and layout tools
  • Study physical mechanisms critical to resonator performance and propose innovative solutions to expand our IP and product portfolio
  • Reporting to Head of Design
  • Efficient communication with the cross-functional R&D team
What we expect

We expect you to have most of the following qualities:

  • MSc or Ph.D. in a mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or physics
  • MEMS modelling experience using both FEM (COMSOL, Ansys or equivalent) and lumped element models​
  • 5+ years experience of MEMS design, ideally including resonator, gyroscope, micromirror or similar design​
  • Layout experience with common tools (KLayout, L-Edit or equivalent)​
  • Proficient data analysis skills with Python, Matlab, R, JMP or equivalent​
  • Experience of working with semiconductor foundry / mass production foundry​
  • Practical experience of quality management & improvement (DFMEA, 8D, SPC)​
  • Project management experience – demonstrated on-time delivery capability​
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate (patents, publications, or R&D projects)

We appreciate:

  • Expertise in modelling non-linear MEMS​
  • Oscillator design experience, PSpice or equivalent circuit simulation tools
  • Proficiency in Python coding and experience with version control systems (Git or equivalent)

  • You are looking for a job where daily tasks include photomask layout design, wafer substrate orders, modelling and designing of PCM (Process Control Monitor) structures, control of process steps using a variety of characterization tools, data analysis and definition of fabrication design rules. At the crossroads of design, process and characterization, you will have a unique vantage point on our technology.

Your responsibilities in this position include…

  • Working at the interface of design and processing to maintain Design Rule Manuals
  • Process control methodologies development including in-line measurements, PCM structures and FA (Failure analysis)
  • Monitoring & analysis of process quality and reporting to Design and Process team.
  • Hands-on work on photomask layout including global wafer, PCM and alignment structures.
  • Definition of silicon substrate specifications.
  • Product optimization in the mass production ramp-up phase.
  • Definition of specification limits via correlation analysis of product characteristics vs PCM & inline data.
  • Collaboration with semiconductor foundries.
  • Reporting to Head of Design
  • Efficient communication with the cross-functional R&D team
What we expect

We expect you to have most of the following qualities:

  • MSc or Ph.D. in a mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or physics
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor / MEMS manufacturing processes
  • Experience of working with semiconductor foundry / mass production foundry
  • Project management experience
  • Strong experience of designing PCM structures for measuring process capability
  • Understanding in-line measurement methodologies and techniques. Know-how of common inspection tools such as reflectometer, ellipsometer, AFM, SEM, etc. and electrical measurement techniques such as current-voltage characteristics measurement​
  • Process control experience, understanding of methodologies such as SPC, FMEA, control plan​
  • Layout experience with common tools (KLayout, L-Edit or similar)
  • Proficient data analysis skills with Python, Matlab, R, JMP or equivalent​
  • FEM modelling capability​

We appreciate:

  • Experience with definition of wafer substrate specifications
  • Expertise in high temperature and/or 3D integration semiconductor processes
  • Familiarity with writing of Design Rule Manuals (DRM)
  • Proficiency in Python coding and experience with version control systems (Git or equivalent)

IT Trainee / Summer 2024

What you will do:

  • Support the IT team with IT related issues, such as troubleshooting, installing, and configuring software and hardware.
  • Continue developing our internal tools using Python, such as automation scripts, web applications, and data analysis tools.
  • Work with the IT team on Azure cloud and Copilot projects, such as deploying, managing, and optimizing cloud resources, and creating and testing AI models.

IT Trainee position is a temporary position for 3-5 months during summer 2024.

What we expect
  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related field
  • Knowledge of Python, SQL, Azure, M365 Administration, and Copilot are a plus.
  • Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
